Countertop Materials Available in
Mountain, NC
Black Mountain homes span cabins, cottages, and updated character houses, so the right countertop often depends on the style of the space and how much natural variation you want to see. Mountain Empire Stoneworks works with granite, quartz, quartzite, porcelain, marble, soapstone, solid surfaces, and compact surfaces, and we help you compare real slabs before anything is cut.
Granite Countertops in Black Mountain
Granite fits mountain homes well, giving you a rugged natural surface with real movement and dependable durability. Mountain Empire Stoneworks offers granite in red, green, gray and white, gold, yellow and cream, brown and suede, blue, and black. Since every slab has its own character, seeing the full piece helps you judge how the tone and pattern will work in a cabin kitchen or a home near downtown. Explore granite countertops.
Quartz Countertops in Black Mountain
Quartz is a smart choice when you want a consistent, low-fuss surface that reads clean from one end of the counter to the other. We carry quartz from Zodiaq®, Viatera, Silestone, IceStone, HanStone, and Corian. If you are coordinating countertops with cabinetry and finishes in a Black Mountain renovation, comparing quartz in person makes the selection more certain. Learn more about quartz countertops.
Quartzite Countertops in Black Mountain
Quartzite is a natural stone with strong veining and a bold slab presence, which makes it a fitting choice when you want the countertop to hold its own in a distinctive mountain interior. Each slab is unique, so viewing it in person reveals the movement and depth a sample cannot. It suits kitchens and vanities where the stone is meant to stand out.
Marble Countertops in Fletcher
Marble stands out for its veining and timeless appearance, and it is often chosen for bathroom vanities and feature surfaces where the stone leads the design. Marble does ask for specific care, so we explain the maintenance realities clearly before you decide, no glossing over the tradeoffs. See marble countertops.
Porcelain Countertops in Black Mountain
Porcelain provides a controlled, low-variation surface that works well when a home leans toward a cleaner, more modern look. It can be a practical fit for updated interiors and commercial spaces around Black Mountain. Our team can compare porcelain with stone and other engineered surfaces so you understand the differences.
Soapstone Countertops in Black Mountain
Soapstone has a warm, quiet character with a smooth feel and gentle variation, and it often feels right at home in cabins and traditional mountain kitchens. Its lower-contrast look can ground a room rather than compete with it. Seeing and touching soapstone in person is the surest way to know it fits the space.
Solid Surface Countertops in Black Mountain
Solid surfaces offer a seamless, uniform finish without natural stone variation, which can suit projects that prioritize consistency and clean lines. They are worth comparing when steady color matters most. We can place solid surface options alongside granite, quartz, and marble to make the choice clearer.
Compact Surface Countertops in Black Mountain
Compact surfaces deliver a modern, minimal-movement appearance for a simplified design. They are a good option to review when you want a controlled, contemporary finish. Our team can explain how they compare with granite, quartzite, porcelain, marble, soapstone, and solid surfaces.

When choosing a company for your next counter or stone project its important to look at the facts. Everyone says they will take care of you and do a good job but this company actually does. From my sales person, Sabrina, to my installer, Jose, my experience was great. Sabrina communicated clearly and efficiently at every step of the transaction to make me feel confident the job would be done on time and correctly. The installer was professiinal and prompt. They cleaned up after themselves and made sure to ask me little details to make sure i had everything exactly how i wanted it. The seams were so clean that when the customer came to look, she thought it was 1 huge piece! There were some slight issues with the fit of the stone in the beginning and they not only made sure to immediately fix it, they took care of me, making the entire transaction easy and seamless. Not only are the counters beautiful, Ive built a repeat relationship with them where i will now use them for all of my companies installs. When it comes time to decide who to use for your next project....id trust them. The world is filled with many businesses and people who don't do what they say and say what they do. Why deal with that when you can be working with people of integrity? Thank you to you guys for the wonderful job and the excellent customer service. We need more people like each of you.Posted on Google![]()

What countertop materials work well for mountain homes in Black Mountain?
Both are natural stone, but they read very differently. Granite offers stronger color variation, visible movement, and a harder surface for heavy daily use. Soapstone has a softer, quieter look with a smooth feel and subtle variation, and it develops a lived-in character over time. Granite suits homeowners who want bolder stone, while soapstone suits those after a calmer, understated surface. Seeing both in person helps you decide.
Can I see full slabs before choosing my countertop?
Yes. Full-slab selection is central to how we work. Viewing the whole slab lets you see the true color, veining, and movement before fabrication, which is especially important with natural stone like granite, marble, quartzite, and soapstone where a small sample rarely tells the full story.
